SULTHAN BATHERY

Sulthan Bathery is a reminiscent of various bygone eras. Once known as Ganapathyvattom, Sulthan Bathery got its name when Tipu Sultan stepped on the land of Wayanad. According to legends, Tipu Sultan used a Jain Temple here as a battery, thus people started calling it as Sultan Bathery, since battery is denoted by bathery in Malayalam language. Kings of Veda tribes have also ruled this historical land in the past. An interesting fact about this place is that it is still a habitat of people belonging to different tribes. Being located at a majestic height of 930 m, the environs of this place stay cool and pleasant in all seasons.
